Large Working Pennanular, Zoomorphic Brooch

95

Could a heavy shawl be fastened more beautifully than with this wonderful, timeless bronze working brooch.

Designed from the large and impressive brooch found near the shores of the Shannon at Athlone in County Westmeath.

Just as magnificent now as when it was worn in the 6th century, the brooch is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the classic Pennanular Zoomorphic La Tene style Brooch on display in The Ulster Museum.

The trained eye will notice the snout and biting jaws of the beast at each corner revealing The Celt’s sacred animal kingdom and it’s power to protect. It functions perfectly in proudly securing your favourite woven scarf or shawl.
