Chase of the Hounds

Inspired by drawings within the Book of Kells.

Design inspired from the masterful decorations within the Book Of Kells manuscript, dating back 1,200 years. The book contains the four Gospels in latin and is famous for its lavish and colourful decorative text and insular art. It originates from a monastery founded in the year 561 by St. Columcille on the island of Iona off the west coast of Scotland. After a Viking raid in 806, the monks took refuge in a new monastery at Kells in Meath, Ireland and the book is now on display in Trinity College, Dublin.

The “chase of the hounds” features three intricately linked wolfhounds deep in chase. Beautifully finished silver brooch with wonderful detail. Made from 17 grams of 925 silver, 43mm in diameter. Sizes and weights may vary slightly between each individual piece.
